my u.k. spousal visa has now taken almost 5 months, heartbroken and frusterated?

short stay amsterdam
i am from the u.s. and my husband is from wales. we met last february and married in june. i went over the end of july and was uneducated about obtaining a visa. i had never left the u.s. and just received my passport 2 wks. prior. i thought visas were only for people intending to live permanently. i thought since i was married, i could go, see the country, meet my new family and if i loved it i would then apply and if i didn't my husband was going to come to the u.s. i quit my business, sold the car, put my things in storage and off i went. well had a few drinks in amsterdam to celebrate finally seeing my husband again, and then got questioned by border control. i couldnt believe they might actually refuse entry. that thought never occured to me. i didn't know what to say or what the right answers were. i totally dug a hole for myself. my husband, that they spoke to on the phone at the time, didn't know what to say either. long story short i was refused entry however they did allow me to stay 3 days before sending me back. they told me to go back and obtain a spousal visa which i immediately did. they have had my application since aug. 25 and these last few months have been so stressful and heartbreaking. i was told sept. 7, that i'd have a decision in 10 business days, then i was told 60 days, then 14 wks. after it still wasnt done, i finally cracked and called my local representitive who found out it had been delayed because of my first attempt. i am so stressed i may not get it because of that. it was a stupid, uneducated mistake. i wasn't trying to do anything illegal. i love my husband and the heartbreak and stress has affected my health and my life. please help

  1. And you want to leave the U.S.A.?

  2. You created this situation, so you have to deal with it!!!
The GOVERNMENT doesnt care that you are seperated – The government only cares that you FOLLOW the rules – which you did NOT DO.

There was a 19 year old girl in Canada who married a guy from wales (last year) . She was sent by the UK back in canada with her parents as she cannot immigrate to UK until she turns 21 – she has to wait 2 years

You are lucky – you are over 21, you have your spousal visa – you should be able to immigrate legally NOW

Oh but you cant because of your first attenpt – the one where you shot your mouth off and said too much?

    well whoopdee doo

There are thousands of couples all over this planet who are separated from their spouse for immigration reasons (such as the one I mentioned above).

You are NOT the only one in this situation
you created your own situation because you shot your mouth off and now you have to deal with it.

Processing any immigration visa will take at least 12 months – 5 months is NOTHING

“I was uneducated about obtaining a visa”
damn right you were and arrogant too.

But of course you were trying to do something illegal from the immigration POV.
You entered the UK with no official visa and then you shot your mouth off saying that you were going to get married and stay with NO VISA. That is illegal

Under immigration laws of ALL WESTERN countries – that is good enough reason for the UK to deny you entry. The USA does this as well – for the exact same reason.

If you b/f had arrived at JFK and shot his mouth off saying that he was going to marry a US citizen and stay – he would have been denied entry to USA and sent back to UK as well.

I have no sympathy for whining arrogant americans who are too lazy to do their own research and who shoot their mouths off and CREATE their own bad luck.

  3. Be patient you have the credentials its just a matter of time .
