  1. its a place in spain! mainly like blackpool in the sun!!! high rises and lots of british riff raff!! go out in the countryside an spend ur money wisely! o they have a cracking footy ground though and a cathedral lol!!!

  2. I was there on hols i loved it so much but like anywhere be careful at night its renound for mugging and me and my mates did meet a few scary people when we ended up down a side street very itimadating!!!!!!!

all in all though its a wonderful city go on the cable car ride over the city too thats beautiful :O)

  3. I’ve stayed just off here. It’s extremely central and has excellent transport links to all areas of the city – from Liceu you can get to most tourist sites and must sees. Obviously Las Ramblas is renowned for muggings etc, and this area is no different. However, if you are vigilant you should be fine. There’s always loads going on in this area, and I would thoroughly recommend it. Beautiful buildings, lovely places to eat, market about 5 minutes walk, supermarket, metro and buses, excellent nightlife. Go for it, it’s wicked. A week won’t be long enough!

  4. That’s a fun area. I lived just a couple of blocks away from there.

Pros: It is a very central location, and right across the street from one of the best market in Barcelona. It is sandwiched in between (arguable) the two trendiest neighborhoods; El Born and El Raval. It is also only a couple of Metro stops away from Placa Catalunya (one of the central Metro stations); Barceloneta (the beach); Montjuic (one of two mountains surrounding Barna, best views in the city); La Sagrada Familia (don’t miss it); Picasso Museum; the list goes on and on.

Cons: Las Ramblas is VERY busy. Imagine the crowds of Times Square packed into one street. There are all sorts of cool street performers, restaurants, and tourist shops lining the street. The restaurants are generally pretty bad, but some great ones are only a block or two off of the main drag. Watch out for pickpockets. Barcelona hosts some of the worst (best) in the world. Violent crime is almost nonexistent in Barcelona, but the pickpockets are prolific. Just be smart. Also, watch out for the “cerveza/beer” guys. You’ll know what I mean once you get there.

Barcelona is my favorite city in the world. It’s impossible to not have the time of your life.

  5. The apartment location is in the upper Raval, which is fine regarding safety, as long as you take the usual precautions. As others have mentioned, pickpocketing is rife, but in the whole of Barcelona (the worst incident I have witnesses/heard from friends and colleagues happened on Paseig de Gracia, which is the most exclusive street on Barcelona, so don’t be put off).
Carrer Hospital (the location) is a great place with plenty of shops, supermarkets, ec. so always busy – not like shady side street, etc.

You don’t mention who the apartment/holiday is for – if you’re a young-ish couple or group, then I’m sure you’ll find it great. If you’re a family with small kids, then maybe you could think about another location, but purely as you may not be accustomed to so much noise at night until late.

  6. Hi,
first off all the location of the apartment is good and you dont have to be worried about something beacuse barcelona is a safe city in all of the areas maybe exept RAVAL area that its a bit not pleasant to walk in the nights. the most touristic places is LA RAMBLA ST. and all his surroundings. if you want a cool place to eat dinner go to a restaurant called CIUDAD CONDAL its in the center and its local and noisy (in a good way)
