Looking for a cool neighborhood/reasonable apartment in Barcelona for five weeks?

barcelona apartments

I will be studying at the University of Barcelona School of Law on Av. Diagonal for five weeks. I'm trying to find a place to stay. I'm trying to find a cool neighborhood with lots of restaurants, cafes, etc., but I don't know much about the area. One friend told me to try Gracia.

Also, if anyone knows of a good way to find an apartment that would be great. I've tried a few websites, but I can't seem to find anything cheaper than 2000 Euro per month. Is this an average price?

  1. Try gobcn.com, if you haven’t already. I don’t think you should HAVE to pay over 2000/month, but you might want to, in order to be comfortable.

Gracia (that’s a boulevard) is going to be pretty pricey, as would anything right on Las Ramblas, though that might be a really great place to live, unless you are bothered by lots of noise at night…I think right on the Ramblas is pretty rowdy until extremely late, but then, you’re in college, and might just get into that. You could also try the Barrí Gotic, but I’d expect that to be pricey.

    Barceloneta is less expensive.

I’m not sure where the University is situated in relation to any of those places, but everything is easily accessible using the metro. btw Diagonal is a HUGE long street. Cuts across the entire city.

remember, Barcelona is one of the worst locations in the world for pickpocketing. be really careful about where you carry your money while there, and keep a close eye on all valuables. Never heard of much else going on in terms of danger, but those pickpockets are in every crowd.

Found this under the University of Barcelona study abroad website:

And these look nice…if available for the whole period, a place renting at 25€/night works out to 875/35 nights and they usually give a discount for staying more than a week, even better for a full month. You shouldn’t have to pay 2000 unless you are really picky about location. You just need to search more.

  2. 2000 a month is too high! You can find cheaper places on craigslist barcelona. Check out these listings:

  3. Yes it is the average price since Barcelona is the most expensive city in Spain.. Diagonal and Gracia areas are very much expensive neighborhoods.. ( and make sure u brush up or learn Catalan since many of the classes are conducted in Catalan NOT Spanish)..

Try looking to share an apt or house..

    Take care,
