What hotels in Montpellier, France can reasonably accommodate a family of 5?

barcelona apartments

Two adults and three children traveling in Spain and France. We have an apartment in Barcelona, but what about when we travel into France? Is there a reasonable way for a family of 5 to stay in Montpellier or Narbonne?

  1. For a stay of several days (if so, how long?) or for a stopover along the highway on your way to Spain?

If you are looking for a vacation place, you should stay at Bed & Breakfasts or rentals, they are cheaper than hotels.

Otherwise this hotel in Lattes, south of Montpellier has ONE family room for up to 6 people:

As long as you are staying at least one mile from the beach, hotels can be very cheap too. I don’t know what you call cheap though, what is your ideal budget?

If it’s just for a stopover, stay at one of these cheap but clean and modern motel chains (you’ll need to book 2 rooms though, some have a few communicating rooms for families): Etap Hotel, Akena, Hotel Première Classe, B&B Hotel, Bonsai, Nuit d’Hotel, Villages Hotel, etc.

  2. We’re a family of 5 too and I have to warn you that we usually end up having to get two rooms with connecting doors.

Have you looked into Gîtes? They’re good for families.

We use Novatel a lot. It’s one of the chain hotels that Millie listed. If your children are young, they are especially accomodating.

    hth!
