I’m sick of Gumtree, anyone know of a great flat to rent in London?
I KNOW it's a long shot and I've checked out tonnes of places online but i haven't seen anything that strikes me. I've got a budget of 200 quid to spend a week, and I work in South Quay so somewhere around there would be great. Alternatively Canada Water, Canary Wharf, Swiss Cottage, Paddington or Primrose Hill would work too.
I've lived in a few places in London over the years and have been mugged twice so I'm looking for somewhere safe and relatively close to a Tube station.
I just figured, what the hell, put a question on here. You know when you hear of these people in this amazing apartments and you ask em where they got it from and they say "Oh, a friend knew the owner" or something' or other.
So that is the basis for my query. I'd be monumentally grateful for any advice anyone would give me or links or contacts you could send my way

Try
I have found two houseshares though them, and there is always a great selection all over London.
Why not try SE16, I used to live there, Canada Water, Surrey Quays and Rotherhithe are all in a good location, tube station, movies, shopping center (tesco) nearby. You can walk by the river all the way to London Bridge in 40-50 minutes as well.
I felt unsafe just once during the year and half I was living there.
As you know Jubilee Line will take you to South Quay (in Docklands?) in less than 10 minutes.
Any more advice, please contact me.

I know what you mean about gumtree, I’ve used this one to get a flatshare and a flat on my own once
Failing that it’s aways more productive to physically go to local estate agents and ask them what they have available.

Try the London Paper’s flatshare site – it’s relatively new but free to advertise there so you might get a bargain
