Mesa is generally not a very violent city and in most cases it will be fine no matter where you are in mesa. Yes there are some places better than others but mesa isnt a place to be afraid of.
What are the major crossraods of these apartments? I can possibly tell you if its bad if I know what streets other than apartments. I have heard of these places but forget the area of the Eperny or El madrid. I know its west mesa.

I know you can find cheaper in even better areas of mesa.

I like this site, you look up properties and tenants and former tenants post comments, see if its listed here. From one place that I lived in a few years ago before we moved to another state, really reflected well all the comments people had left. Watch for pest problems, mainly scorpions being mentioned at apts and avoid those! Use rent.com to go rent somewhere, if you use that site, and sing up etc, then rent, and when you go view, you tell the mgr about the rent.com as the instructions say, you really do get the money that rent.com promisses, it is not an online scam, its a resourse for apts to list and get renters in, so if you sign up mention rent .com when you go look, and again when you sign the contract, you will get the money to you, it doesnt take long either, a few weeks!!
