The Valley has its good and bad areas like anywhere else. Rents are really high everywhere! Try to see the activity around the neighborhood at night, then you can an idea whats really going on there. Pay for an electrician are good, but most are union jobs, so that may be a problem. I would not suggest the 405 anytime of day or night, its a parking lot! Straight down Ventura Blvd goes faster by far. Basic cable, phone and internet are running about $100/mo. Car Insurance is high, also depends on driving record. A 2006 you say? Probably wants full coverage.. about $250/mo.

Van Nuys is a reasonably safe, suburban neighborhood. Van Nuys to Woodland Hills will be about a half hour drive.
I don’t know about the pay. Cable is pretty cheap. Car insurance varies widely but will likely be higher than most states.

It is about a 15 to30 min drive depending on traffic. She might be happier in Woodland Hills, Calabasas, Agoura, and Oak Park. in addition Blue Cross has offices in thousand Oaks, Camarllo where the congestion is a little less than in the Valley.

The 405 Freeway is considered one of the WORST freeways in Los Angeles..depending on the traffic and time of day it can take a between 30minutes to an hour. Van Nuys is nice, very hot weather..the area is very decent and its not the hood at all..many people that live there are good paying jobs.the only bad fact that I can think of is Van Nuys is where mostly where all porns are filmed but I am sure that it will not affect your daughter. Those things are usually done privately.
The Madrid is very nice and may be expensive. Basic Cable $40 car insurance with the right company maybe $150-$250 and Gas about $100 or more per week..Food ranges from $6 and up per Meal…

Wow, that’s a lot of questions without much punctuation. Let’s see if I can sort this out.
The Madrid apartments are in a decent, but rather noisy section. Kittridge Glen is about the same, but it’s on a less-busy street. All other things being equal, I’d go with Kittridge Glen.
Electricians get pretty good money out here when work can be found. With the economy as it is, I hope he knows how to do a little domestic work to help around the house while he’s looking for it.
WH is about 13 miles from those locations via the 101 freeway, about 10 miles if you take the streets. Drive time should be 20-30 minutes.
Basic cable is about $40-50. As for car insurance, I’m not an agent, and couldn’t tell you. There are too many factors, including your daughter’s driving record. I suggest going to geico.com and getting a quote.
Good luck.

Van Nuys can be fairly dodgy. The most reasonable area close to Woodland Hills that is fairly safe is West Hills.
