i live Prague. How do i go about getting a visa to stay here long term?

You don’t say what kind of visa/permit you are on now and your status (legal/illegal) and both of these will make an impact.

However if you are legally in Czech now then I would advise you to contact the Czech embassy in the US or the immigration service or foreign office dept in Czech to get the official advice. Although part of the EU, like other countries there is not a 100% uniform process and this will vary from country to county
