You can almost get a studio within your budget in very many locations within Shanghai, but I have to warn you, with that budget, you are going to get crab.

If you want something decent, you will have to budget around 3000 or more.

I just helped a friend get an apartment in Shanghai (2 bedroom for around 3,000rmb was very difficult to find), you are goona have to look on the Puxi side of town to find something that cheap, it might be a little difficult too, over the summer prices on everything here went up,
