Where can I take a short trip from Amsterdam besides Brussels?

short stay amsterdam

As in, inter country. If I go to Amsterdam for a week in the fall, I feel like that is too long to stay in that city as it is not overly huge. Where else can I visit for 2 days or so?

Thanks!

I’ve just found out a whole pack of lies about my boyfriend. What to do?

short stay amsterdam
In short, I've found out that my boyfriend has lied about having a bachelor's and a master's degree, lied about holidays to Amsterdam (he had told me was visiting a sick relative), and found out he's in touch with an ex-gf whom he told me he couldn't stand and he swore on his families' lives that he had not had any contact with for months....
Also, by accident I saw one of his bank statements and there was a hotel transaction on there which he says was for a family friend whilst they were staying in the area, as apparently my bf's family couldn't put them up. (I swear I wasn't snooping - the statement fell out on the bed.)
I don't really know whether to believe him about the statement and whether to forgive him for the lies about the degrees, holidays etc.The thing is he invented stories about lectures&his graduation etc which I find really hard to get my head around.
Should I forgive?

What is the cheapest city in Europe?

rent in milan

I am planning a summerlong vacation with a couple friends and we are going to rent a flat for sure. We have decided upon Spain, France, Italy, Netherlands, and Greece as places that we want to see (some cities we want to visit are: nice, paris, marseilles, madrid, amsterdam, milan, rome, athens, barcelona, valencia, venice, naples).
it preferably needs to be in a central location and in a city with a reasonable cost of living (for european standards). Im asking for cities that are cheap to live in basically, and any other helpful advice.

Filipino au pairs in Holland not going back to the Philippines after contract?

short stay amsterdam

Hello people,

I'm not being RACIST or something but I'm interested in hearing opinion of Dutch people or anyone knowledgeable.
There are a lot of undocumented filipinos here in Holland and most them are women who worked as au pairs and when their contract expired they "ran and hide" or what filipinos would say, becomes TNT. Now there is a place in Amsterdam (I'm not going to name the place) where a lot of these TNT's are "hiding" and having a place to stay. I attended one of the filipino parties with a friend and during the party one of the filipina girls employers (a dutch women with her children) went in the room and talked to the au pair, they spoke in english and I heard the women say that she (pinay au pair) was supposed to pick up her children at the Crest (a daycare center for children) but she didnt so she asked why and also told the au pair to come home immediately and talk. It seems the pinay au pair is drunk and told her employer that she will go home after the party(wtf?). To make the long story short, after a couple of exchanges(yes the pinay girl actually spoke with an attitude towards her employer), the dutch woman told her that she will call the police and have them pick her up. All of a sudden almost all the people of the room (filipinos) started to literally run outside (probably they're undocumented). My brother works for an international organisation and is actually planning to get an filipina au pair for her daughter(he's single father). We've heard that filipina au pairs are the most willing to come to Holland( maybe they see it as their only chance to go abroad). I'm just wondering how come this au pairs are able to escape the immigration authorities when they actually have to report to the immigration police once they arrive here in Holland.?.

Planning a short,memorable euro trip?

short stay amsterdam

Hi there. I’m from South Africa and planning to visit my bro in the UK for just over 2 weeks.(From 16 Dec until early Jan).
I would like to know if anyone has a suggestion as to places I can visit in Europe. 1 of my choices is Amsterdam but I don’t want to stay there for 2 weeks. I also do not want to go to too many places as this will not be realistic in 2 weeks. I do however would like to spend about 3/4 days max and also stay in affordable central accommodation, so that i can experience as much as possible.
I would value any opinions and suggestions. Or a basic itiniry if you did something similar.

Just my husband and I. 4 days and 3 nights. We would like to see Amsterdam but thought it might be noisey to stay in the city. Can anyone recommend where is good in Holland so that we can see some of the sights in such a short time. Also is it easy to get transport to Amsterdam as we would probably leave the car at the hotel

my u.k. spousal visa has now taken almost 5 months, heartbroken and frusterated?

short stay amsterdam

i am from the u.s. and my husband is from wales. we met last february and married in june. i went over the end of july and was uneducated about obtaining a visa. i had never left the u.s. and just received my passport 2 wks. prior. i thought visas were only for people intending to live permanently. i thought since i was married, i could go, see the country, meet my new family and if i loved it i would then apply and if i didn't my husband was going to come to the u.s. i quit my business, sold the car, put my things in storage and off i went. well had a few drinks in amsterdam to celebrate finally seeing my husband again, and then got questioned by border control. i couldnt believe they might actually refuse entry. that thought never occured to me. i didn't know what to say or what the right answers were. i totally dug a hole for myself. my husband, that they spoke to on the phone at the time, didn't know what to say either. long story short i was refused entry however they did allow me to stay 3 days before sending me back. they told me to go back and obtain a spousal visa which i immediately did. they have had my application since aug. 25 and these last few months have been so stressful and heartbreaking. i was told sept. 7, that i'd have a decision in 10 business days, then i was told 60 days, then 14 wks. after it still wasnt done, i finally cracked and called my local representitive who found out it had been delayed because of my first attempt. i am so stressed i may not get it because of that. it was a stupid, uneducated mistake. i wasn't trying to do anything illegal. i love my husband and the heartbreak and stress has affected my health and my life. please help
